“La Luna de Par en Par” (The Moon Wide Open) will be premiering in its entirety at the Roschel Performing Arts Center at Franklin &Marshal in Lancaster, PA. The piece was conceived by Elba Hevia y Vaca, choreographer/executive/artistic director of Pasión y Arte in collaboration with master Flamenco choreographers Alejandro Granados and Raquel Heredia.
Further collaborations include original compositions by Gonzalo Grau and Cristian Puig and video landscapes by Adal Maldonado.
Conceptually, the trilogy explores the female psyche through our experience of dance. It is a journey of a woman: Part I explores Loss of Innocence-Awareness, Part II confronts Duality-Masculinity, and Part III displays Evolution-Woman. Each section of the trilogy has thematically consistent use of choreography, cast, music, video set and costume. The piece is firmly rooted in the Flamenco Tradition but it introduces multi-disciplinary elements by the various musical genres, cross disciplinary choreography and video to create a visual landscape and set.
The Performance at Roschel will be featuring Adriana Maresma Fois as guest dancer. She is a graduate from the University of New Mexico, and has lived, studied and worked in Spain for the last 16 years. She has been on tour with various prestigious companies from Spain throughout South America and Europe. She will be conducting dance workshops both in Philadelphia, New York and Lancaster to share her knowledge of the Flamenco Language.
The piece also features Pedro Cortes, master Flamenco guitarist, who comes from a long line of Gypsy guitarists. In addition to being the musical director of his own fusion group, Amanecer, he has toured with major companies from the US and Spain such as Maria Benitez Dance Co., Jose Greco and Noche Flamenca.
Hasta pronto,
Elba Hevia y Vaca
Artistic Director, Pasión y Arte
